Who We are…

Wengert Farms is a family-owned agricultural operation located in central Iowa, where our family’s passion for livestock and farming has grown across generations. Along with raising competitive club lambs, we operate a commercial row-crop and hay operation. Technology has always been at the heart of the operation. From the latest in precision ag to owning one of the first big square balers in the county to utilizing the latest in embryo flushing technology for the sheep. We see the greatest value from being on the cutting edge of technology…

Our sheep program began in 1995 when Seth started raising sheep as a 4-H project. In the early years, the flock focused primarily on purebred, frame-type Suffolks. As the livestock industry and club lamb market evolved, so did our breeding program. We expanded our commercial ewe flock and continually refined our genetics to meet the changing demands.

Over time, our program transitioned toward producing elite club lamb genetics. Today, much of our commercial ewe base serves as recipient females for our elite donor ewes. This allows us to use the most advanced embryo flushing and IVF technology to rapidly multiply the genetics we believe can make the greatest impact.

While our sheep program has changed considerably since that first 4-H project in 1995, our goal remains straightforward: combine proven livestock fundamentals, progressive genetics, and modern reproductive technology to produce high-quality club lambs that can compete at the highest level.
